Your first line of defense against toxins is your liver. It functions like a filter in preventing toxic substances from getting into your blood stream. Unfortunately, our lives are full of toxins such as air pollution, pesticides, artificial hormones and more. Thus, our liver has a larger task of removing our body’s toxins and wastes on a daily basis.

Our liver has 500 important functions, but three of the most notable ones are producing bile to help with digestion, cleansing toxins from the blood supply, and storing glucose when needed for energy. When something in these areas goes wrong, you may be suffering from a disease of the liver.

But how do we know if it’s not working properly?

CHECK FOR THE FOLLOWING SYMPTOMS OF A LIVER NEEDING DETOXIFICATION:

Fluid retention.

This is the most common sign of your liver not functioning properly. It appears in 50 percent of people who have cirrhosis, a condition in which scar tissue replaces healthy liver tissue.

ALLERGIES

The liver is responsible for breaking down excess histamine, and if it is not working properly, histamine may build up in the body. As a result, seasonal allergies may worsen, and food sensitivities can increase.

EXCESSIVE SWEATING

A damaged liver must work hard to keep up. This produces a lot of heat, which can raise your internal temperature, thus causing excessive sweating.

CHRONIC FATIGUE

Fatigue or exhaustion is one of the most common signs linked to liver problems.  Over time, the fatigue will lead to depression and mood swings.

BAD BREATH

When toxins build up in the lungs, it creates a putrid smell you exhale. This kind of breath shows that your liver isn’t filtering toxins out of your lungs.

CONSISTENT ACNE

An impaired liver is not able to break down toxins effectively, causing them to build up. As a result, your body will try to get rid of these toxins in other ways, such as through your sweat. When those toxins flushed through your pores, they can irritate and inflame the skin resulting in acne.

Take Spirulina to Detox Your Liver

Spirulina is full of antioxidants that help the liver in detoxifying.   Spirulina is known to be alkalizing to the body, which boosts liver function, a vital element while detoxing.

Start with a small amount, maybe ½ tsp. at a time and slowly increase your intake until you are eating 1 Tablespoon per day
