Participants were asked to take either a placebo or 15 milliliters (mL) of elderberry syrup. The researchers discovered that elderberry syrup was able to reduce symptoms of influenza. Additionally, people who took elderberry were able to recover in just four days. And those who took a placebo recovered in seven to eight days.
