In 2002, I was told in a routine checkup that I had Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, an autoimmune condition that causes the body to attack its own thyroid tissue. And unfortunately, I just knew little about Hashimoto’s back then. I thought about my family history and I realized that none of my ancestors had any thyroid issues. It made me think Why.

It’s estimated over 30 million  women and 15 million men suffer from hypothyroidism, underactive thyroid, or other thyroid diseases.

YOUR GRANDMOTHERS DIDN’T HAVE THYROID DISEASES… BUT YOU DO. HERE IS WHY

THEY DIDN’T EAT SOY

Over 170 scientific studies confirm the dangers of soy.  Soy products are very toxic and can cause thyroid problems because soy contains goitrogens. These are substances  damage thyroid function by  blocking the synthesis of thyroid hormones and interfering with iodine metabolism. A 1991 research found that eating only 2 tablespoons a day of soy for 3 months caused thyroid suppression with symptoms of malaise, constipation, sleepiness, and goiters.

THEY DIDN’T EAT GMO’S

Genetic Modified Foods include soy, corn, canola, cottonseed, and sugar beets. Genetic modification creates new proteins the human body has never before processed. Your body views these pathogens as dangerous substances that need to be attacked, destroyed, and removed. This creates inflammation, which can lead to many thyroid problems.

WHEAT WAS NOT WHAT IT IS NOW

Most thyroid problems are caused by autoimmune disease, which triggers the immune system to produce antibodies that cause the thyroid gland not to function properly. Gluten (a protein found in wheat) mimics the structure of the thyroid gland and weakens it over time, causing significant inflammation in the body.  Studies have found that it can cause the immune system to produce antibodies that attack its own body.

THEY DIDN’T EAT INDUSTRIAL SEED OILS

Industrial seed oils include corn oil, sunflower, safflower, soybean, cottonseed, canola, grapeseed, and rice bran oil. These oils are all very high in polyunsaturated fats and they are structurally damaged.

Damaged fats cause severe inflammation in your body and disrupt the hormone balance, especially to the endocrine system. They act as free radicals causing damage to your organs and tissues.

THEY ATE HEALTHY FATS

It’s important to realize that hormones are created from building blocks, and cholesterol being the main building block.  The body creates cholesterol and then uses it to create hormones such as cortisol, testosterone, estrogen, progesterone.  When we don’t eat healthy fats that are responsible for the making of cholesterol, our bodies lack fuel to make the building blocks. As a result, hormone levels will get significantly lower.
