Did you know coffee is one of the most chemically treated crops, with some estimates stating every acre of coffee gets treated with 250 pounds of toxic chemicals? SO, if you aren’t drinking organic coffee, here’s what could be hiding in your morning cup of joe.

PESTICIDES, FERTILIZERS, HERBICIDES AND MORE

Coffee beans are among the most highly sprayed and chemically treated crops in the world. Crops are bathed in synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, and insecticides. Not only are these chemicals extremely toxic and dangerous to our bodies but also harmful for the farmers exposed to a high level of chemicals.

LET’S LOOK AT WHAT COULD BE IN YOUR COFFEE:

  • Ochratoxin A is a mycotoxin that has shown it could cause kidney failure and cancer, brain damage and have negative effects on the immune system. This study found 33% out of 60 coffees sampled had Ochratoxin A.
  • Aflatoxin B1is a mycotoxin and a known carcinogen that has been found to have several dangerous effects on the brain and kidneys.
  • Acrylamideis a potentially harmful chemical formed when coffee beans are roasted. Unfortunately, it can be found in most coffees.  However, the largest amounts of Acrylamide are present mostly in instant coffee and lighter roasted coffee.

Here are just three of the pesticides commonly used on coffee beans:

This is why you should be consuming only  certified organic coffee as there are no synthetic fertilizers or chemicals used in growing or production. Organic coffee is also grown with organic fertilizers.

As of now, the US government does not have maximum residue limits (MRLs) for pesticides used on coffee beans. This leaves you  vulnerable to a lot of  toxic pesticide residue levels lurking on the surface of your coffee.

THESE BRANDS ARE THE LOWEST QUALITY.

The FDA report found that these brands had more than 200 parts per billion (ppb) acrylamide per cup. The beans used are grown in areas known for higher acrylamide and mycotoxins, or they are made from instant coffee that is much higher in acrylamide.

DETOX TOXINS FROM YOUR BODY

If you want your liver to function properly (eliminate toxins and cleanse all the impurities) you should consume reishi mushrooms daily. In, a study in Food and Chemical Toxicology  showed that using reishi mushroom reversed chemical-driven liver damage in mice. Reishi mushroom is known for its anti cancer properties. It eliminates  free radicals and promotes liver cell regeneration. Just take 1/2 tablespoon a day!
