While both cottage cheese and flaxseed are both very nutritional on their own, the combination of the two are believed by some to contain extremely powerful healing properties.  Some specialists, like the German bio-chemist Johanna Budwig, believe it can even cure cancer. She was a famous doctor who has been nominated for the Nobel price in Medicine 6 times. During  her life, she helped 90% of her cancer patients. Her success made  pharmaceutical industries view her as an enemy and attempted to suppress her work.  However, her work still speaks for itself. Dr. Budwig’s protocol involves the combination of common flaxseed oil and cottage cheese.

Can the Budwig diet prevent cancer? | MD Anderson Cancer Center

Being an expert in fats and lipids, Dr. Budwig noticed in her research that many of the modern processed fats and hydrogenated oils are destroying the membranes of our cells.  The destruction of the outer layers of the cells make things like fat absorption hard or impossible for our cells.  This causes the destruction and/or cellular toxicity.  The idea behind the Budwig diet is that it would repair the damages made to cellular membranes and eliminate further damage.

Flax Seed and Cottage Cheese: The Healing Combination for Diabetes, Psoriasis, Eczema, Heart Disease, Arthritis and More

To accomplish this, Dr. Budwig first suggested that we eliminate all forms of processed foods (especially fats), animal meat, butter and sugar.  This would prevent further deterioration.  For the repair of already damaged cellular membranes, saturated fats and proteins (like those found in cottage cheese and flaxseed) have a positive effect.  Because Cottage cheese is rich in sulfur proteins and saturated fats while flaxseed oil is high in electron rich unsaturated fatty acids, when cottage cheese and flax are combined it causes fats to be more soluble and easily absorbed into the cellular membrane… healing your cells.did you know that cancer cells thrive in acidity?Cancer cells thrive in an acidic environment but cease to exist in Alkaline environments.

By itself, cottage cheese is very rich proteins and amino acids (which induce muscle growth and repair).  One cup of cottage cheese contains about half of your daily necessary intake of protein.  It also has about 30% of the daily recommended amount of phosphorus, 14% of your daily calcium and 25% of vitamin B12 (which supports heart health and energy levels).

Flaxseed, or linseed, is low in cholesterol and high in omega fatty acids.

According to the University of Maryland Medical Center, flaxseed can reduce blood pressure, incidences of heart disease and stroke.  While many people use flaxseed oil, we recommend consuming the seeds directly as the oil loses its lingnans (a powerful antioxidant) and fiber.
