We all know the slogan “Got Milk?”…. This marketing strategy has had a great effect on us for years. Doctors and nutritionists aggressively promote the consumption of dairy saying that it’s pretty much the only way to get the calcium and Vitamin D. Well, I hate to break it to you but the calcium and vitamin D in your milk are doing more harm than good. In fact, the consumption of milk causes osteoporosis, type 2 diabetes, acne, cancer and much more. So what are the dangers of drinking milk?
5 REASONS TO NEVER DRINK MILK AGAIN (EVEN THE ORGANIC ONE)
CASEIN INTOLERANCE
Casein is the main protein in milk and dairy products. Did you know that casein has the same effect on your body as gluten? Consuming casein can potentially lead to severe auto-immune problems. If you are gluten intolerant, chances are you are casein intolerant as well. Casein leads to respiratory problems, allergies and illnesses. Dr. T. Campbell in his book “The China Study” wrote about a very significant correlation between animal protein consumption and cancer development. He states that casein protein promotes cancer in every stage of its development.
MILK CAUSES OSTEOPOROSIS
Dairy products produce acid thus creating a lot of acidity in the body. Your body draws phosphorous and calcium from your bones in order to return to a body’s natural alkaline state and neutralize the acidity.
A lot of studies have found that bodies don’t absorb the calcium in milk. According to a study of thousands of Swedish people published in the British Medical Journal, cow’s milk has a deteriorating effect on health when consumed for a long time.
TYPE 2 DIABETES
Evidence suggests that there is a significant association between the consumption of milk products and the risk of developing type 2 diabetes. Milk is very insulinogenic. Even though the glycemic index of dairy products is relatively low, it has a high insulin index. Researchers have found that both proteins in milk, casein and whey, stimulate the production of insulin from the pancreas. In 2001 the study of 3,000 infants with genetically increased risk for developing type 2 diabetes was done in Finland. It demonstrated that early introduction of cow’s milk increased susceptibility to type 1 diabetes.
ACNE
In many studies, the consumption of dairy was linked to an increased prevalence and severity of acne in both boys and girls.
OVARIAN CANCER
A Swedish study proved that women who consumed more than 4 servings of dairy each day were twice as likely to develop serous ovarian cancer.
There are other alternatives to drinking milk which include raw fermented choices such as whole milk yogurt, kefir, cultured butter, almond and coconut milk.
