Rick Simpson oil

Rick Simpson is a medical marijuana cultivator and activist, famous for ‘Phoenix Tears,’ a strong, concentrated form of cannabis extract also known as RSO (Rick Simpson Oil).

Simpson, who was diagnosed with basal cell carcinoma, a form of skin cancer, managed to defeat cancer himself using his now widely known recipe.

His journey began in 2003, and his story has since been re-told, mostly in the alternative media, while being ignored in the mainstream media. We share this story with you not to proclaim Rick Simpson oil to be a one-size-fits-all, cure-all for cancer, but as a reminder that different healing modalities work for different people.

As always, consult a doctor before making your own personal decision on which treatments for cancer and other ailments are best suited for you, and be sure to share this article with anyone you know who may be interested. And be sure to check whether THC and cannabis are legal where you live before making any decisions as to whether to purchase, grow or obtain in it.

Phoenix Tears: The Rick Simpson Story

Simpson first underwent conventional treatment and surgery for his cancer, as Amanda Froelich from the website True Activist explained.

When these Western methods did not affect him the way he had hoped, Simpson made the decision to do something “drastic,” at least according to what the mainstream considers to be drastic, anyway.

Simpson remembered a report on the cancer cell killing powers found in THC, or Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, the primary psychoactive cannabinoid extracted from the cannabis plant. Although THC is illegal in many states, Simpson managed to obtain it and went to work creating a recipe that worked for him.

He eventually began applying his unique recipe directly to his skin cancer, in hopes that healing would take place.

Simpson said to himself that if the cannabis oil did not help within four days, he would abandon the practice.

Amazingly, in just that short period of time, his cancer began healing quickly. That’s when Simpson knew he had stumbled onto something important.

Recently, the U.S. National Cancer Institute lent credence to Simpson’s findings, admitting that marijuana kills cancer cells. Marijuana is still fully illegal in four states, and fully legalized in over a dozen. The controversy surrounding the plant seems as if it will never die down.

For those who have successfully used it as a healing agent, there is no doubt, however, that it is the answer to many ailments that mainstream medicine is still working to figure out.

While it is always prudent to start by working with a licensed health professional first if you’ve been diagnosed with cancer, the Rick Simpson oil recipe is certainly worth a try, for maintenance purposes only, if you’ve been diagnosed with cancer or any other ailment that cannabis may be able to improve.

How to Make the Rick Simpson Cannabis Oil Recipe for Cancer

The Rick Simpson oil recipe for cancer has become so popular that it’s even been published on the mainstream how-to website WikiHow.

The following instructions have been summarized directly from Rick Simpson’s website. It is important to be very careful when boiling solvent off as the fumes are extremely flammable.

Do not smoke, and avoid sparks, stove-tops and red-hot heating elements while crafting this recipe. Use a fan to blow fumes away from the pot, and set up in a well-ventilated area before starting.

Instructions

Start with one ounce of dried herb. One ounce will typically produce 3-4 grams of oil, although the amount of oil produced per ounce will vary strain to strain. A pound of dried material will yield about two ounces of high quality oil.

  1. Place the completely dry material in a plastic bucket.
  2. Dampen the material with the solvent you are using. Many solvents can be used. You can use pure naphtha, ether, butane, or 99% isopropyl alcohol. Two gallons of solvent is required to extract the THC from one pound, and 500 ml is enough for an ounce.

  1. Continue to crush the material with the stick, while adding solvent until the plant material is completely covered and soaked. Remain stirring the mixture for about three minutes. As you do this, theTHCis dissolved off the material into the solvent.
  2. Pour the solvent-oil mixture off the plant material into another bucket. At this point, you have stripped the material of about 80% of its THC.
  3. Second wash: again add solvent to the mixture and work for another three minutes to extract the remaining THC.
  4. Pour this solvent-oil mix into the bucket containing the first mix that was previously poured out.
  5. Discard the twice washed plant material.
  6. Pour the solvent-oil mixture through a coffee filter into a clean container.
  7. Boil the solvent off: a rice cooker will boil the solvent off nicely, and will hold over a half gallon of solvent mixture. CAUTION: avoid stove-tops, red-hot elements, sparks, cigarettes and open flames as the fumes areextremely flammable.
  8. Add solvent to rice cooker until it is about ¾ full and turn on HIGH heat. Make sure you are in a well-ventilated area and set up a fan to carry the solvent fumes away. Continue to add mixture to cooker as solvent evaporates until you have added it all to the cooker.
  9. As the level in the rice cooker decreases for the last time, add a few drops of water (about 10 drops of water for a pound of dry material). This will help to release the solvent residue, and protect the oil from too much heat.

Final Steps

  1. When there is about one inch of solvent-water mixture in the rice cooker, put on your oven mitts and pick the unit up and swirl the contents until the solvent has finished boiling off.
  2. When the solvent has been boiled off, turn the cooker to LOW heat. At no point should the oil ever reach over 290 degrees F or 140 degrees C.
  3. Keep your oven mitts on and remove thepotcontaining the oil from the rice cooker. Gently pour the oil into a stainless steel container
  4. Place the stainless steel container in a dehydrator, or put it on a gentle heating device such as a coffee warmer. It may take a few hours but the water and volatile terpenes will be evaporated from the oil. When there is no longer any surface activity on the oil, it is ready for use.
  5. Suck the oil up in a plastic syringe, or in any other container you see fit. A syringe will make the oil easy to dispense. When the oil cools completely it will have the consistency of thick grease.
