I had heard stories about the motherly love of a mother-in-law for her daughter-in-law, and I always dreamed that I would also call my mother-in-law “mom.” However, things turned out quite the opposite for me. I didn’t win my mother-in-law’s favor from the very first day of our acquaintance. I never found out the reasons, but her principles included me being a terrible housewife, a bad wife, and a future bad mother. Given her intense dislike for me, it was clear that living together wouldn’t work out. Nevertheless, after the wedding, I moved into my in-laws’ house.

My father-in-law was actually very kind to me and occasionally tried to calm his wife when she became unreasonable. Criticism of my every move from my mother-in-law was unbearable for both me and my husband. We eventually moved out.
However, this didn’t stop my mother-in-law from occasionally coming to our home and starting arguments with me. The frequency of these visits increased when I finally gave birth to our first daughter. Nina was born a week earlier than expected, and somehow, my mother-in-law interpreted this as me being negligent as a mother.

She didn’t even interact with her granddaughter, which was in stark contrast to my father-in-law, who adored our daughter and stayed close to her at all times. Then, one day, my mother-in-law came to our house, furious, and declared that she had conducted a DNA test on our daughter’s hair, which proved that she had no relation to her son.

This prompted my husband to burst into hysterical laughter, but to satisfy his mother, he decided to take another test. Unexpectedly for my mother-in-law, the results confirmed that our child was indeed her son’s.

After that incident, my husband and I stopped paying much attention to her. It seemed that in her old age, my mother-in-law had lost her sanity.
