The presence of insects in a house causes a lot of discomfort. Between fly dropouts, mosquito bites, and bacteria carried by cockroaches, life quickly becomes unbearable. It is necessary, in this case, to react quickly to avoid an invasion of these unpleasant creatures.

Fortunately, there are several effective methods that do not pose any danger to your health or the environment. So you can easily make your own insecticides with products you use every day at home.

1 – Homemade insect traps

Unlike commercial insect traps, these are environmentally friendly, cost next to nothing, and are incredibly effective.

apple cider vinegar trap

Will need:

– Cider vinegar or balsamic vinegar.
– Liquid dishwasher detergent.
– A glass bowl.
– A plastic film.
– A toothpick.

Pour 2 to 3 cm of cider vinegar or balsamic vinegar into the container. Then add a few drops of liquid dish detergent and shake to dissolve. By placing the container on the infested area at night, you will find many dead insects the next day. They seem to be more attracted to the darkness and coolness of the night.

Flies and other insects are attracted to vinegar because of the smell that resembles that of rotting fruit. When approaching it to feed, they will suffocate thanks to the detergent.

Trap with fruit:

Place an old piece of skinless fruit in the bowl. Cover it tightly with plastic wrap. Poke many small holes in the plastic with a toothpick. The fruit flies will enter the trap without being able to get out.

2 – Aerosol 100% natural

It’s a simple, chemical-free and affordable solution to get rid of those unwanted visitors once and for all.

Ingredients :

– ½ glass of  vinegar .
– ½ glass of olive oil.
– ½ glass of shampoo.

How to use :

Pour all 3 ingredients into a spray bottle and shake this mixture. All you have to do is spray the liquid in different corners of the house.

3 – A repellent based on lavender essential oil

Put a few drops of lavender essential oil on a sponge, then place it in a place frequented by flies and let it sit. Repeat the operation as soon as the smell has disappeared.

4- A natural repellent with lemon and cloves

This grandmother’s trick consists of cutting a lemon (preferably green) in half and then sticking about fifteen cloves on each side.
The mixture of the 2 perfumes is a repellent natural against mosquitoes and flies. After a few days, the lemon pulp will color and take on a brown tint. This operation must be repeated every week.
