Actress Julia Roberts accompanied former First Lady Michelle Obama on a trip to Cần Giuộc High School in Vietnam to learn about the barriers to girls’ education. Through the Room to Read program, Tay Thi Nguyen overcame obstacles and became a teacher. Roberts was moved by the young woman’s determination and got involved with Obama’s Global Girls Alliance. The visit aimed to draw attention to programs that support girls’ education, as 98 million adolescent girls worldwide are not in school. Roberts emphasized the importance of investing in girls’ education for the benefit of society.
