We often look everywhere for remedies for small problems at home, even spending a lot of money on specific products and perhaps not getting great results.
Yet what few people know is that most of the time, the solution lies in our homes, among the ingredients we all have.

Why are salt and lemon a little treasure?

One of the most effective laundry ingredients is the fabulous mixture of salt and lemon. A grandmother’s remedy that those in the know use very often, because it saves time and, above all, money.
But why should we always have them on hand? It’s easy.

Salt and lemon
Lemon is known for its bactericidal, antiseptic and antifungal action, and that’s already an excellent reason to add it to laundry, even if the quality we’re about to exploit isn’t one of them. Its whitening action is what interests us most.

Fine salt has excellent descaling properties, both for clothes and for washing machines and drains. So why should we use salt and lemon combined for our laundry? Their combined action is super effective on ink stains on fabrics.

Very often, we find ourselves after one or more washes continuing to see that horrible ink stain that just won’t go away from our garment. Usually, the at-home solution is almost never the first option, so you find yourself trying stain removers, specific products and spending money on more products that aren’t useful and that we’ll probably never use again. And the stain is still there.

Unfortunately, ink stains are among the most stubborn, and those of us with children know this well. Sometimes, by scrubbing and scrubbing to try and remove patches, you risk damaging the fabric and making it brittle, without getting the result you want. That’s where our ingredients, lemon and fine salt, come into play to remove stains without damaging fabrics.

How to use salt and lemon to remove stains

It may sound absurd, but using these two simple and common ingredients is really quite effective against even the most stubborn ink stains, and will help you to keep your clothes from getting ruined. To use salt and lemon correctly, simply add a little salt to a teaspoon of lemon juice and mix well until a paste-like substance is created.

Apply the mixture directly to the stain and rub lightly with a soft-bristled toothbrush. In this way, the salt acts like a scrub, while the lemon acts directly on the stain, whitening it. Leave for a few minutes, then wash as usual.

This option can be repeated several times for particularly intense stains, with guaranteed results.
