A study involving nearly 70,000 people found no link between “bad” cholesterol and the premature deaths of over 60-year-olds from cardiovascular disease.

The research that was published in the BMJ Open journal, found that 92 percent of people with a high cholesterol level lived longer.

Researchers analyzed 30 studies.  Twelve found no link between LDL “bad cholesterol” and deaths and 16 found that lower LDL was associated with higher mortality risk.

You really can’t trust conventional wisdom about cholesterol.

Cholesterol is a fatty substance produced by the liver. It is responsible for many functions in your body such as building cell membranes, nerve cells, and much of your brain. Without cholesterol in your body you would die.

Cholesterol is absolutely necessary for hormone production. It  metabolizes all the fat soluble vitamins like vitamin A, D, E and K, among other things.

The common medical wisdom today acknowledges two types of cholesterol. The first type is HDL, also called the “good cholesterol,”  and the second type of cholesterol is the LDL-cholesterol or “bad cholesterol.”

However, there is no such thing as good cholesterol and bad cholesterol. Cholesterol is cholesterol. The chemical formula for cholesterol is C27H46O.  Thus, there is no good version or bad version of this formula.

25% of the cholesterol in our body is found in the brain which is the raw material for making progesterone, estrogen, cortisol, testosterone and vitamin D.

  • One study found that memory function was best in people with high LDL “bad” cholesterol.

Inflammation is the root of the problem

Higher levels of cholesterol are a symptom of inflammation in your body. Cholesterol is sent to the artery to heal the inflammation. If it is successful, everything goes back to normal but if the inflammation continues, more cholesterol is sent.  Too much cholesterol starts to build up around the artery and that’s how plaque begins to form.

Take turmeric for inflammation

Curcumin is the main active ingredient in turmeric. It possesses powerful anti-inflammatory effects. In fact, curcumin can be a more effective anti-inflammatory treatment than most inflammation-fighting medications such as Advil (ibuprofen) and aspirin, according to this study.

Take 1.4 grams of turmeric extract in two divided doses daily for three months.
