Hydrogen Peroxide – also known by its chemical formula, H2O2 – is a powerful oxidising agent composed of water and oxygen.
When using a 35% food-grade source with no additives or impurities, Hydrogen Peroxide can be miraculous in helping to deal with many health conditions.
WHAT IS HYDROGEN PEROXIDE?
Hydrogen Peroxide is just water with an extra oxygen molecule (H2O2) It is formed naturally in the environment by sunlight interacting with water; and produced by both animal and plant cells.
HOW DOES HYDROGEN PEROXIDE WORK?
H2O2 effectively kills disease-causing microorganisms by ‘oxidising’ them in a process which breaks down organic materials into oxygen and water.
Did you know that your body can naturally produce a form of H2O2? It is used by the immune system to help fight infections. Your white blood cells use Hydrogen Peroxide to help combat any toxins, bacteria, parasites or yeast invading your body.
Hydrogen peroxide is able to inactivate bacteria, yeast and fungi. You can find a list of brand name disinfectants approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration that contain 1% to 7.5% of hydrogen peroxide on the FDA’s website. According to the CDC, household (3 percent) hydrogen peroxide is effective in deactivating rhinovirus within 6 to 8 minutes of exposure.
As stated by the CDC:
“Hydrogen peroxide works by producing destructive hydroxyl free radicals that can attack membrane lipids, DNA, and other essential cell components.
Catalase, produced by aerobic organisms and facultative anaerobes that possess cytochrome systems, can protect cells from metabolically produced hydrogen peroxide by degrading hydrogen peroxide to water and oxygen. This defense is overwhelmed by the concentrations used for disinfection.”
Commercially available 3% hydrogen peroxide is stable and effective for disinfecting a wide variety of surfaces.
HYDROGEN PEROXIDE USES AND BENEFITS
Hydrogen peroxide is very effective. It is anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-mold, and anti-mildew. It cleans, disinfects, and deodorizes surfaces.
1.) Hair bleacher – HP acts as a milder and non toxic version of hair dyes. Use it as you would use any other bleaching product to get desired results.
2.) Wound cleaning and disinfection – this is very beneficial for small wounds. Just directly apply 3 % hydrogen peroxide on the wound.
3.) Treats calluses and corns – mix equal parts of hydrogen peroxide and warm water and soak your feet in the mixture.
4) Helps with foot fungus – prepare a mixture of HP and water.Apply mix to fungus directly.
5.) Stain remover – Apply directly on stain, leave it on for a few minutes and clean with cold water. Repeat if needed.
6) Household cleaner – Add hydrogen peroxide to a spraying bottle and use it on a daily basis.
7) Bleach laundry – Add 1 cup of hydrogen peroxide to the load and let the laundry soak for 30 minutes. Wash as usual.
8.) Neutralizes odors – Mix white vinegar and hydrogen peroxide and soak fabrics in it.
9.) Carpet and rug washer – Just spray a diluted solution onto the rug or carpet. Then wash it as per usual.
10.) Clean tiles – Spray hydrogen peroxide directly on tiles, leave it on for 10 minutes. Rinse off.
11.) Toilet cleanser – pour 1/2 a cup of HP into the toilet bowl and leave it inside for 30 minutes.
12) Hydrogen peroxide for teeth whitening. Pour 1/4 cup of 3% hydrogen peroxide into a glass. Swish the solution around the entire mouth for approximately 1 minute. Spit it out.
CAN HYDROGEN PEROXIDE HELP YOUR TEETH?
Did you know that you can whiten your teeth with hydrogen peroxide? Hydrogen peroxide, which is a natural bleaching agent, can be used to whiten teeth. First, you can gargle the peroxide in your mouth or mix it with baking soda, apply the mix to your teeth, and rinse off.
To use hydrogen peroxide for a rinse: Use equal parts of hydrogen peroxide and water and mix together.
