Aging, Hyalauronic Acid, Doctor Recommended

As we get older, the aging of our skin becomes something worth focusing on.

Some of the biggest risk factors for aging skin include living in an urban area, tobacco smoke exposure, having a dry skin type, not staying hydrated, increased sun exposure (past a certain point and especially without proper antioxidants inside the body), and working in toxic conditions.

Improper breathing, a diet lacking in antioxidants, and vitamin and mineral deficiencies are among the additional risk factors for aging skin.

According to one physician based out of New Zealand, there is an ingredient he takes often that can help to reverse the signs of skin damaging and aging, including fine lines and wrinkles.

It’s derived from food sources including citrus fruits, potatoes and sweet potatoes, and leafy green vegetables among others, and is also widely consumed in supplement form.

The ingredient in question is hyaluronic acid, and it could hold the key to reducing the above and other signs of aging, according to Dr. Brad Stanfield, a doctor with over 170,000 subscribers on YouTube.

How Hyaluronic Acid Works

This particular, naturally-occurring acid has helped lead to “significant improvements” in skin health, according to Dr. Stanfield. Hyaluronic acid is important because it is found in all connective tissues in the human body, he added, and it forms the “backbone” of healthy tissues.

“As we age, the amount of hyaluronic acid, it gradually decreases,” Dr. Stanfield added, “to the point where a 75-year-old person old has one-quarter the amount of hyaluronic acid in their skin compared to a 19-year-old person.”

By introducing more of this acid to the skin, he continued, “we can strengthen the skin and reduce wrinkles.”

Multiple human clinical studies have shown that hyaluronic acid supplements have shown that the acid is absorbed in and utilized by the human body, Dr. Stanfield added.

Studies have compared hyaluronic acid to the placebo effect and have found that it works much better.
